Centre for Visual Studies successful in securing funding for new WRoCAH network

The centre is pleased to announce the successful funding, through the AHRC, of the Design Matters Network. This network was established as part of WRCoAH (White Rose College of Arts and Humanities - a collaboration between the University of Sheffield, the University of Leeds and the University of York). The Design Matters network will tackle the crossover of creative and visual practices between heritage modes and contemporary use through nostalgia.

The Sheffield contribution to the network will focus on fairground nostalgia and design, with the PhD researcher Ian Trowell based in the School of Architecture under the guidance of Dr Stephen Walker. The successful application for this network funding was instigated, at the Sheffield end, through the Centre for Visual Studies, building upon our active involvement with the National Fairground Archive.
